TN· Contractor exam prep + concierge

Tennessee contractor license prep — the full requirement, in one place.

Every code, exam, and state-specific test the Tennessee board actually grades you on — paired with the TCS courses that satisfy each one, and the concierge that files your application after you pass. Sourced directly from the issuing boards and verified May 8, 2026.

Tennessee is a NASCLA Commercial AND Electrical accepting state. The Tennessee Board for Licensing Contractors administers contractor licensing under T.C.A. Title 62 Ch 6. NASCLA Accredited Examination satisfies the trade-portion exam in lieu of TN's own trade exam for several classifications; PSI Business and Law of Tennessee (B&L) is required separately. NEC currently tested cycle: NEC 2020 (statewide adopted 2023; verify per board notice). No state income tax. State sales-and-use tax 7% + local. Mechanics-lien notice 90 days; suit within 1 year (T.C.A. Title 66 Ch 11).

Entity contractor licenses (LLC, corporation) in TN require a designated Qualifying Agent (QA) — a licensed individual whose credential qualifies the entity. NASCLA + B&L of TN passing is the standard path for the QA's qualifying exams.

Reciprocity: QA must be at least 50% owner OR a full-time employee of the entity; QA cannot serve more than one TN entity at a time per T.C.A. § 62-6-119.
