What’s coveredFour separately approved Florida courses, one purchase

Four separately approved Florida courses, one purchase.

  1. One hour toward the workplace-safety requirement on your Florida electrical contractor renewal, taught from the 2024 edition of NFPA 70E — the written electrical safety program, when a circuit has to come down, the shock and arc flash boundaries, and the eight-step process for putting a circuit into an electrically safe work condition.

  2. One technical hour toward your Florida electrical contractor renewal, taught from the 2024 edition of NFPA 70E — the written safety program and the hierarchy of risk control, working on or near energized parts, arc flash risk assessment and incident energy, and lockout/tagout through the electrically safe work condition.

  3. Two technical hours toward your Florida electrical contractor renewal, taught from the 2023 edition of the National Electrical Code (NEC) — the edition Florida administers — conduit and tubing fill, box fill under 314.16, pull and junction box sizing under 314.28, and securing, supporting, and ampacity correction for the completed run.

  4. Four technical hours toward your Florida electrical contractor renewal, taught from the 2023 edition of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and the 2024 edition of NFPA 70E — Article 240 from its scope through its location rules, the devices themselves, the article that now carries over-1000-volt overcurrent protection, services, transformers, generators, motor and air-conditioning circuits, and the safety practices for working at the device.

The Florida requirementHow this counts toward Florida’s 11 hours

Florida asks for 11 classroom hours every two years: one hour of business practices, one hour of workers' compensation, one hour of workplace safety, one hour of Florida laws and rules, and seven technical hours — one of which has to be a Florida Building Commission-approved advanced module on the Florida Building Code.

The four courses in this bundle are 8 approved hours — seven technical and one workplace safety — and count for 7 of the 11 Florida requires, because Florida counts six general technical hours and saves the seventh for the Florida Building Code advanced module. Business practices, workers' compensation and Florida laws and rules are sold separately, one hour each. The Florida Building Code advanced module has to come from a course the Florida Building Commission approved. TCS lines one up for you with your renewal.

Delivered as interactive distance education: pre-recorded video, an instructor of record you can ask questions, identity verification, and a graded final.

Common questions6 answers
Is this bundle approved in Florida?
Yes. Each of the four courses in this bundle is separately approved by the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation, Electrical Contractors' Licensing Board, under provider 0010783: CRS5162 (1 hour), CRS5135 (1 hour), CRS5163 (2 hours), CRS5134 (4 hours). The bundle is a way to buy all four at once, not a filing of its own — each course reports its completion separately, under its own course number.
How many of Florida's 11 renewal hours does this cover?
Florida asks for 11 classroom hours every two years: one hour of business practices, one hour of workers' compensation, one hour of workplace safety, one hour of Florida laws and rules, and seven technical hours — one of which has to be a Florida Building Commission-approved advanced module on the Florida Building Code. Can I take all eight hours online?
All four are approved by DBPR for online delivery — that is how they were filed. Delivered as interactive distance education: pre-recorded video, an instructor of record you can ask questions, identity verification, and a graded final.
Is there an exam?
Each of the four courses ends with its own multiple-choice final exam at a 75% passing score, the score Florida sets for a course delivered this way (rule 61G6-9.003(7), Florida Administrative Code). Retake the same exam if you need to.
What if I don't finish all four in one sitting?
Your progress saves on each course, so you can spread the eight hours across as many sittings as you need. Florida allows no partial credit. The course counts when you finish it, start to end.
How do my hours get reported to DBPR?
Trade Code Solutions files your completion with the state for you. Each of the four completions is filed separately, under its own course number.
