Continuing education (CE) for Texas electricians is set by Tex. Occ. Code ch. 1305; 16 Tex. Admin. Code ch. 73 and administered by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. The hours below are the verified, current requirement — not a stale copy of an old rule.
Each classroom hour is at least 50 minutes, and every hour must come from a board-approved provider and course.
Texas asks for a single four hours per year no matter how many Texas electrician licenses you hold — one approved course covers them all. Hours are reported to TDLR by the course provider; there is no self-reporting.
Apprentices enrolled in a registered apprenticeship program meet the renewal requirement through the program; apprentices renewing outside a registered program complete the same four hours of continuing education.
